If you aren't familiar with diamond drilling bits that's not surprising because they are more of a specialized drill bit . Diamond drill bits are used to drill holes into brick, stone, and concrete, and they are usually used for larger holes in these materials.

Diamond bits are usually not used on any other materials. The bit is made of a metal cylinder with a fairly soft steel mount on an arbor. At the open end of the cylinder industrial diamond are embedded.

The segments of the bits are thicker than the actual cylinder wall, so the larger portion of the bit is not rubbing in the hole that is being bored. The sloped slots will help to move the dust away.

You can use diamond bits dry or using water as lubrication. Selecting the right diamond drill bits for your application is very important to ensure you get the desired results. The material and the thickness of the material are the factors that determine what diamond bits are right. Before you start to drill, you should visually examine the bit for any damage and never use if you see damage. If a bit is damaged or not correctly mounted it can be very dangerous. You should always have your safety footwear on, snug clothing, hearing protection, safety goggles, and the right respiratory equipment.

It may take you a bit of time to get used to using diamond core drill bits, but once you see what it can do, don't be surprised if you quickly become addicted.

You can purchase a full selection of diamond drill bits online. Here you will find quality and pricing, as well as a great deal of information on how to use your bits and get the maximum benefits from your diamond drill bits.

If you still aren't sure why you should use diamond cutter drill bits, read on . In case you didn't know it diamond is the hardest material man knows, and when you use a diamond bit it grinds away the material. Because diamond is so hard it can actually be used on all materials . Diamond can make a good alternative to carbide and other blade types. Diamonds can grind away material at the nano or micro level, where carbide drill bits cut with a sharp cutting edge.

The biggest advantage to using diamond for drilling besides the fact it will drill anything, it that there is minimal chipping, faster drilling, less noise, and less material loss.

The Elegance of Natural Slate Kitchen Countertops

Slate is a fine-grained metamorphic rock that is derived from sediments of clay and fine silt. The action of intense heat and pressure changes the original clay into new minerals such as mica, chlorite, and quartz. These natural processes transform the clay into slate. Slates can usually vary in composition, structure, and durability due to the alteration of the minerals being rather inconsistent. This natural process of slate formation has provided this material with certain properties that help to make slate an excellent choice as a kitchen countertop material. It is a natural material that is known for strength and durability, like that found in granite or marble.

Slate can provide an elegance and sophistication to kitchen countertops. Slate is one natural material that has both the strength and durability of granite and marble but without the constant maintenance and care these other surfaces require.

Many people might associate slate as just a material for roofing and outdoor walkways, however slate can be an excellent material for use in kitchen countertops, primarily because slate has a low absorption rate. What this means is that slate kitchen countertops are more stain resistant and less likely to provide a breeding ground for dangerous bacteria.

Many kitchen design professionals regard slate as an even better natural stone surface that marble or granite, since slate kitchen countertops have a low porosity so that this surface requires no sealing. Most slate countertops are considered to be stain-free. Slate countertops look great. So you can see that by selecting slate for kitchen countertops, you are getting a material that has the feel and natural beauty of a natural stone.

While most slate can be darker stone, it is also available in shades of red, green, blue, and purple.

Slate is a dense, sedimentary rock formed over thousands of years that consists of clay and volcanic ash, becoming dense sheets of crystalline mica. A fine-grained natural stone, slate provides a smooth, sleek appearance. Slate is usually available in earthy tones such as greys, reds, and greens. Slate is considered to be a softer stone than granite. Design and application considerations need to be taken into consideration when it comes to providing surfaces with proper application.

Slate countertops are low maintenance and can be kept clean with any household cleaner. To keep slate kitchen countertops protected the use of mineral oil is usually recommended.

Among the characteristics of slate kitchen countertops are that they are impervious to stains, heat, water etc. Slate kitchen countertops are elegant and can be cleaned very easily. They should polished regularly to maintain the shine of the natural stone. Slate kitchen countertops are great for cutting vegetables, preparing, and serving the food.

Slate kitchen countertops can be honed to a smooth, matte (that is, not shiny) finish. This honing process produces a warm, durable surface that is long lasting, strong, simplistic, and natural. Slate kitchen countertops can also be oiled to create a glossier look.

Slate kitchen countertops are available in different shapes, colors and sizes that can go well with some many kitchen design styles.

The Importance Of Properly Cleaning Granite Countertops

Granite countertops continue to be the pinnacle of beauty in the home. Sleek and modern, versatile and sophisticated, functional and gorgeous, they have the ability to offset any style of room and increase the overall value of the home.

Homeowners and house hunters alike respond in kind to granite countertops; they elevate an ordinary kitchen to an extraordinary and sophisticated space. Of course, along with the choosing and installing of these beautiful surfaces comes the job of caring for them appropriately. Cleaning them must be done periodically and correctly in order to maintain the integrity of their appeal.

These should be considered something of an investment in the home; proper cleaning of them is something that must be done in order to safeguard that investment. Taking careful note of the appropriate care that should be given can increase the longevity and beauty of your countertops.

Because granite is a natural stone, it is unaffected by liquids; water and other substances are not capable of permeating the stone and causing damage. However, the integrity of the granite can be compromised by certain chemicals that can erode the top layer of the stone.

In order to properly care for the stone, cleaning should be done with mild or natural ingredients; experts highly recommend using those products that contain vegetable oil as their primary ingredient.

Some of the more straightforward recommendations are those steps that you would take with the cleaning of any countertop - cleaning should be done on a daily basis; granite should be wiped down with a soft cloth and warm, clean water in addition to the cleanser that you choose. Additionally, spills should be cleaned-up quickly.

While you can use mildly abrasive cleaning pads when cleaning, it is best to test the effect of the material on the surface of the stone by using it in low visibility area initially.

When removing dirt or residue proper cleaning products include neutrally based agents. These agents are defined as a being pH balanced. After cleaning, the surface should be rinsed to make sure that any residue film is removed.

Products that are alkaline or contain acid should be avoided as they will mar the surface of the granite. These products include ingredients such as ammonia, citrus fruit (lemon, lime, etc.) and alkaline. Signs of harmful effects to your granite countertops include cloudiness of the surface and circular type ring markings.

Granite countertops are designed to bring you years of enjoyment; they are a durable material that holds up under a myriad of conditions. But in order to maintain the integrity and beauty of the granite - and keep it looking the way it did on the day you installed it - it is important to maintain a consistent and meticulous method of care. If you are fastidious in cleaning granite countertops you will long have granite that will continue to shine and add beauty and value to your home.

 How To Clean Marble Tile

More and more people are using marble tiles for home applications, but since marbles are considered soft stone, you need to take good care of it to maintain its spark and shine. It can be damaged by dirt and some acidic materials such as fruit juice, colas, wines, coffees and so on, but it doesn't made people to unused these materials for their homes. How To clean marble tiles and keep your marble sparkling?

To keep your marble sparkling, be sure to keep it free from routine dust and dirt. Cleaning marble tiles by sweeping the floor often with a soft bristled broom or vacuuming to pick up any loose dirt. If this can't be done every day, settle for two or three times a week.

Since there are plenty of people using marble tiles, the demand of products in cleaning it is increasing. It is best to keep a marble tile cleaner at hand so in case of accidental spillage of acidic materials or dirt, you can easily clean up right away. There are cases that your family and friends will walk around your home with dirt or sand in their shoes, so your marble tiles can gain dirt and scratches, so you have to clean them.

Occasionally wash marble surfaces with lukewarm water and wipe dry with a clean cloth. Wiping surface with a damp chamois will not leave streaks. Once or twice a year, depending on soil, wash with a mild detergent solution (hand dish-washing detergent and warm water), rinse and wipe dry.

A light coat of wax will protect the surface of marble but is not considered essential. Use colorless wax. Don't wax white marble as it may tend to yellow it. A marble sealer can be applied to clean marble, which will protect from staining and allow soil to be wiped off with a damp cloth.

Oil stains may include butter, hand cream or lotion. As soon as possible, spread surface with an absorbent fine powder such as whiting or even corn starch. After short time brush to remove and reapply more powder. Let stand 24 hours. To remove: Scrub with hot, sudsy (detergent) solution and stiff brush. Or wipe with ammonia-dampened cloth. In either case, then rinse and wipe dry. If these alkaline solutions don't remove all the oil, you can try a solvent. Make a poultice dampened with acetone or amyl acetate (available at drug stores), or with home dry cleaning fluid. Use good ventilation with windows open to remove fumes, do not use near spark or flame, and do not leave on too long.

Vinegar is helpful in cleaning lots of materials at home but not marble tiles. Vinegar can damage these types of tiles, so you have to put vinegar away from it. Do not use any type of detergents or soaps, it would be better to use warm water if you do not have cleaner.

One can install marble tiles over the existing floor provided that it is level, smooth and cleaned properly, if not, you have to remove the existing floor. Marble tiles should be cut properly to fit before you glue it to the floor. If you think you can't make this work done, you can hire a professional to do the work for you.

Seal and polish the tiles every few months is a good idea. The polish will help your floor to shine, while the sealant will protect the floors from everyday dirt and grime and make it easier for you to clean marble tiles on a regular basis. Your local home improvement emporium is sure to have plenty of options for marble tile cleaners, sealants and polishing agents.

How to Carve and Cut Sandstone

Things You'll Need:
• Sandstone
• Small Metal Picks (Similar tools you would use in leather working)
• Idea's for what to carve it into to.....
Step 1:
Alright, to start the carving process you need to have a good place to work. This could be in the kitchen or outside. Either way set up a white sheet of paper over anything you intend to use as a platform. Once this is complete then you may begin.

Step 2:
The actual process of carving the sandstone is entirely up to your artistic skill. You can carve it into whatever you want. Here are some tips though. If you want a smooth clean cut, try rubbing it against something abrasive, such as sandpaper. For small areas that you would like to have intricate designs on, use a small dark-leaded pencil and draw it on there first. Then, using sharp tools (picks, carving tools, etc.......) carve the design on there over the lines you have drawn.

Step 4:
Good Luck and Happy Carving!!!

Tips & Warnings
• Always draw what you plan to do on the sandstone before you actually carve it.
• Avoid making a mess by putting down a sheet of paper or newspaper to protect what your working on.
